Unabridged Volume 5 is an unedited expression of our blending philosophy: bourbon exactly as it should be, uncut at cask strength and non-chill filtered. This limited-edition release marks the fifth chapter in our most celebrated series, a collection that pays homage to the idea of a book unedited: bold, honest, and unlike anything else on the shelf.
For this edition, acclaimed whiskey expert Fred Minnick partnered with our award-winning production team to select an exceptional blend. Together, they tasted blind with members of local bourbon clubs, landing on a single expression that the group enthusiastically agreed on: a complex, mahogany-colored bourbon that stands as one of our most cohesive projects to date.

The Texas heat really pushed the rich, savory oak character of the older Kentucky and Tennessee lots to integrate beautifully with the vibrant sweetness of our hometown distillate, resulting in a remarkably luxurious whiskey."

TASTING NOTES

COLOR

Mahogany

NOSE

Demerara sugar, cinnamon, dusty oak, cocoa powder, peach cobbler

PALATE

A lovely oily mouthfeel with loads of sweetness right up front: fig bar, sticky toffee pudding, cinnamon rolls, stone fruit. The sweetness is balanced beautifully by light oak and a subtle note of biscuit.

FINISH

Medium-long with a touch of warmth. Peach and tropical fruit alongside marzipan, nutmeg, and fresh mint.

SERVE

Let it rest in the glass a moment. Excellent neat, on ice, with a teaspoon of water, or in a cocktail.

Building upon the legacy of its predecessors, Volume 4 invites true whiskey enthusiasts to experience a masterful fusion of flavor derived by pulling barrels aging in different climates before marrying them in Texas heat defining the Milam & Greene house style of “Texification”. While previous editions of Unabridged were crafted from upward of fifty barrels, Volume 4 represents the smallest yield in the series to date. Eight carefully chosen casks were selected for their remarkable character, and together they revealed a harmony so complete that the blend needed no further expansion. This is a whiskey that speaks perfectly for itself.
