Building upon the legacy of its predecessors, Volume 4 invites true whiskey enthusiasts to experience a masterful fusion of flavor derived by pulling barrels aging in different climates before marrying them in Texas heat defining the Milam & Greene house style of “Texification”. While previous editions of Unabridged were crafted from upward of fifty barrels, Volume 4 represents the smallest yield in the series to date. Eight carefully chosen casks were selected for their remarkable character, and together they revealed a harmony so complete that the blend needed no further expansion. This is a whiskey that speaks perfectly for itself.
This year’s blend highlights the interplay of matured Kentucky and Tennessee bourbons from partner distilleries and harmonized by our own Kentucky and Texas-distillate which contains our signature malted rye for a lush texture and lively spice. The composition is as follows:
The blend marries the creamy palate of a Kentucky bourbon with the mellow finish of a Tennessee Bourbon and strong aromas of a Texas bourbon with character resulting in a whiskey that is both robust and dangerously drinkable at 118.4 proof (59.2% ABV).

The Unabridged Volumes Series are a literary–themed blend that pays homage to Master Blender Heather Greene’s book Whiskey Distilled: A Populist Guide to the Water of Life and showcases her incomparable talents in nosing and tasting. Among other honors she was named Master Blender of the Year in 2023, while our Master Distiller Marlene Holmes was just recognized as the 99th Inductee into the Whisky Hall of Fame after being declared Master Distiller of the Year in 2024.
Unabridged refers to a book that has not been edited, so we offer this at cask-strength and non-chill filtered. Unabridged Volume 1 was released in 2022 to rave reviews and recognized as a Double Platinum winner in the prestigious Ascot Awards. Unabridged Volume 2 released in 2023 to even better reviews and again recognized as a Double Platinum winner in the Ascot Awards, as well as being listed in the Top 25 Whiskeys of 2023 by acclaimed whiskey expert Fred Minnick. In a blind tasting at the distillery, Unabridged Volume 3 shone above the previous two releases. Beginning with Unabridged Volume 3, the Unabridged series is now sold enclosed in a beautifully crafted box, perfect for holiday gift giving.

Nose:This blend of bourbons has fragrant aromas of caramelized brown sugar and notes of honeysuckle, almond, oak, cigar boxes and old fine leather.
Palate:Milam & Greene’s Unabridged Vol. 3 is smooth yet viscous with notes of sweet cornbread, crème brulee, vanilla, peanut brittle and malted milk chocolate.
Finish:Smooth with notes of marzipan, baking spice, and simple syrup.

UNABRIDGED Volume 1

Unabridged Volume 1 was released in 2022 to rave reviews and was recognized as a Double Platinum winner in the prestigious Ascot Awards. This literary-themed blend of straight bourbon whiskies was created by calling on the expertise of three award-winning authors and whiskey experts including our CEO, Heather Greene, along with Noah Rothbaum and David Wondrich, authors of the Oxford Companion to Spirits and Cocktails and Flaviar’s resident liquor experts. The three tasted numerous whiskey samples and ultimately created a blend of straight bourbons, which were made in three different states and are of different ages. Unabridged Volume 1 showcases the flavors a barrel can impart into bourbon over time and place.
It was created with a backbone of straight bourbon whiskies distilled by master distiller Marlene Holmes onsite in Texas and at Bardstown Bourbon Co. both using the same mash bill. Bourbon distilled in Tennessee and Kentucky bourbon round out the chapters. It was hand-bottled at 59% ABV / 118 Proof.
Thirty-eight barrels were used to create Unabridged Volume 1.
UNABRIDGED Volume 2

Unabridged Volume 2 was released in 2023 to even better reviews and again recognized as a Double Platinum winner in the Ascot Awards, as well as being listed in the Top 25 Whiskeys of 2023 by acclaimed whiskey expert Fred Minnick. To create Unabridged Volume 2, Milam & Greene harvested bourbon that they distilled in the small copper pot still in Texas and in larger column stills in Kentucky, both using malted rye in the proprietary mash bill. Tennessee barrels of different ages add structure and tannins to round out this exciting blend. This cask-strength blend incorporates some of the rarest casks from the distillery’s library.
A beautiful bourbon with fragrant aromas of dark cherry, fig, sweet almond, menthol, fine boot leather, anise, and caramel candy. Full-bodied with a viscous mouthfeel carrying bold flavors of dark cherry cola notes characteristic of well-aged bourbon followed by dark brown sugar, sweet black tea, marzipan, and oak. It packs a punch at 58.8% ABV / 117.6 Proof.
Fifty-six barrels were used to create Unabridged Volume 2.
