Combine all liquid ingredients into a shaker with ice and shake for at least 20 seconds—strain into a chilled glass. Place a lemon peel on the side of the glass for garnish.

Combine bourbon and orange liqueur into serving glass with ice and stir for 5 seconds. Top with ginger ale and stir gently for 3 seconds. Top with an orange slice for garnish.

Strawberry Fix

Combine bourbon, simple syrup, and lemon juice into a cocktail shaker with ice, shake for 20 seconds, and set aside. Quarter 1 strawberry and put into serving glass. Muddle strawberry until it is almost jam-like. Add ice to the top of the serving glass. Strain the cocktail from the shaker into the glass over the ice. Garnish with a whole strawberry.

Whiskey Smash

Place lemon wedges into pint glass and top with mint and simple syrup. Taking something with a round edge to mash with, press down on fruit several times until fully mashed with mint. Pour whisky and ice into pint glass and stir for 20 seconds. Strain into serving glass over ice, garnish with mint and lemon wedge.

Peeler or channel knife, fresh citrus fruits: an orange, lemon, and grapefruit, room temperature spring water (not tap) and ice.

 

THE PROCESS
  • Pick your favorite Milam & Greene Pour into a glass, then nose and taste
  • Choose two fruit rinds that will compliment your whiskey and express the oils on the top of each hand
  • Nose the whiskey and smell the oils on your left hand, then nose the whiskey and smell the oils on your right hand
  • Choose your favorite combination, then zest that rind into your glass, and drop it in.
  • Ask yourself: How does it taste? Not there yet? Maybe too “strong”? If so, play with water or ice or a bit of both
